Major Snowstorm Coming!

17 December 2009

I am 90% sure now of a Major snowstorm Coming To Effect Extreme Northwest South Carolina around Grenville 1-2″. All the way up to the north and east and cutting off sharply as you head towards the mason dioxin line.

Right now I am posting the 12Z GFS runs for this storm and I am in 100% agreement with this run. The NAM, ETA, EURO, AND JAPANESE  models are also really saying the same thing. Here is the snowfall coverage bellow from the 12Z run. My snowfall prediction totals are also posted bellow. O’ and now the the 24h and 25th storm is coming up on the model runs. And you guessed it! It looks right now like it will be an all snow event. Stay With Weather Advance for further details.

Watching And Waiting

16 December 2009

I have seen everyone blogs on the possible storm this weekend. Right now as it stands the storm Is supposed to come closer to the coast. I am going to stand on the side of the conservative few that have blogged in the past 3 days. A 40% chance of a storm for Phili. A 45% here in Washington D.C. The Latest run of the GFS model has 4-6″ of snow from D.C Southwards. The bull’s eye is south of there into Virgina. I do not think that it is grabbing onto the fact that there will be  a warmer air temperature down south into Virginia. So I do not think it is the final solution but a step into the right direction. Phili on this map has 1-2″ on this run. But we need to all wait and see. I will post an update probably tomorrow after the 18Z run.
______________________________________________________
Update: 8:24pm- The GFS Model & the ETA Model Has Trended West on the 18Z run. Now Don’t anyone get excited this storm is still 3-4 days out and a lot can change. But Here is the model runs snow prediction totals for This weekend on the 12Z GFS & 12Z ETA Model.
12Z GFS
12z GFS
12Z ETA Model
ETA Model 12Z
The GFS had a 4-6 inches of snow. From Washington D.C Southbound. Now The ETA had 1-2 inches of snow from D.C south. Now Here is The latest model runs snowfall forecast. Now Don’t freak out, it is still 3-4 days away.

18Z GFS Model
18z GFS
As you Can See the 18Z model run has 10-12″+ of snow for Washington D.C and 4-8 Along and East Of the I-95 corridor. However the heaviest snow stays south around Richmond with 14″+. The Big losers are the interior parts of the Northeast. Western North Carolina will have around 15-20″+.  Now here is the 18z ETA model.

18z ETA Model
18z ETA model
The ETA Model Has Pretty much the same Idea Except a widespread area over Virginia of over 20″+ of snow. And 6-10″ of snow over Washington D.C. But Less than 50 miles away in Baltimore, maybe around 1-2″. It advertises a sharp cutoff.
So right now I am saying that there is a 45% possibility. Will it happen? I am not sure. But it is becoming more and more likely from late Friday night threw Noon Sunday. Stay with us for further updates.
P.S. The National Weather Service never puts a storm on the 7 day unless there is at least a 20% chance of it occuring. For the Riverdale, MD area just about 5-10 minutes north driving distance from D.C. This is the forecast bellow. Once again i am not trying to get any one hyped up. But I will wait and see. Take care everyone!

Right now i will say that all of the cards are on the table. The Euro Model, Canadian Model & Japanese model have all shown the storm come up the coast. The only one that is not on board is the GFS model. We will have to wait and see but as for right now my forecast stands along side “The Weather Channel” And I am being very conservative. 40% chance of snow on Sunday From Washington D.C To Boston.  Bellow is the weekend forecast I have for right now For The Big I-95 Cities. Keep checking back for further updates!
