*Hello everyone, and I hope your fall has been good. We are heading into the Winter months soon, and Weather Advance likes to show our followers what we think may happen in the next season. Last Winter ( 2009-2010), we had an 8O% approval rating for our coverage/forecasts during the winter. That is what we hope to accomplish this year, by doing our best, and looking at trends and model forecasts. Not everyone is perfect, and we cant make a perfect winter outlook, but we try to make a best estimate of what the winter looks to be like. We will continue to do so, and we will be doing Coverage throughout the winter season, with up-to date forecasts, and live coverage.
Looking at the maps above from previous years with a la nina pattern, the southeast is usually mild, with some years with lanina having cool spells in with that. The northeast is usually around average, with some variations. The west is usually colder than average, with the southwest being a bit above average. And all these years are different, but i just wanted to show that some years with la nina their could be cold weather and some warm weather.
** 2010-2011 Winter Outlook Map
* More detailed maps will be added soon!
This winter looks to start off cool in the east in December, and somewhat mild in the west; then as January comes a thaw could take place in the east, allowing the west to cool down. With Feburary and March somewhat similar, with the exception that the east begins to cool down. this is what it looks like as of now, and remember that weather can change, and anything can happen. Enjoy the winter and be safe!
